"So far concessions for six sections of the Golden Quadrilateral have been awarded," he said adding the land requirement for two of these sections (Vadodara-Bharuch and Bharuch-Surat have been assessed and as 43.5893 hectares.

The balance four sections -- Surat-Dahisar and Gurgaon-Jaipur on NH-8, Chennai-Tada and Chikaluripat-Vijaywada on NH-5 -- were awarded on February 21 and action for land acquisition is being initiated.

Baalu said the NHAI was facing difficulties even in carrying out surveys of land for completion of Golden Quadrilateral project in West Bengal.

"There are problems in every state but here (in West Bengal) it is too much. It is unbearable. Even interventions by External Affairs Minister (Pranab Mukherjee) and Parliamentary Affairs Minister (P R Dasmunsi) have not worked," he said.
