With the upcoming polls in Uttar Pradesh, the Narendra Modi government has speeden up the work of awarding highway projects. Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari has set a target of completing highway works worth Rs 2 lakh crore in the state by 2019.
The 127 km long stretch between Lucknow and Sultanpur transverses through important districts of Lucknow, Barabanki, Raebareli and Sultanpur.
"The project will include construction of one major bridge, 13 major bridges, one railway over bridge, 259 culverts, 4 vehicular Underpasses, 6 cattle and pedestrian underpasses, 43 bus bays, 2 truck lay byes and 32 km long bypasses at Jagdishpur, Mushafirkhana, Aliganj and Shabaganj," a statement from roads ministry said.
