Need to set up 1000 smart villages across country: Birender Singh

Singh, who was the chief guest at the function, later inaugurated a table tennis academy constructed at the cost of Rs 1 crore at Haryana State Sports Complex.

FARIDABAD: Union Rural Development Minister Choudhary Birender Singh today said he will put forth the idea of developing 1000 ' smart villages' on the pattern of government's smart city plan.

"I would make a request and discuss the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said while delivering the seventh Sir Chottu Ram Memorial Lecture organised at DAV Senitory College of NIT, Faridabad.
