NDMC to provide 1600 new PNG connections
The New Delhi Municipal Council will provide nearly 1600 Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections in its housing complexes to ensure easy and direct-to-home supply of domestic fuel.
In the first phase, eight colonies were provided 647 connections at the rate of Rs 7,000 each. The second phase involves provision of 1599 connections at a rate of Rs 7,500 each to housing colonies in areas like Pandara Park, Kaka Nagar, Golf Link, Bharti Nagar and Khan Market.
The PNG connection is a "cheaper and more consumer- friendly" option, as the fuel reaches directly to homes through underground pipeline network, an NDMC official said. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the 'BaLA' (Building as Learning Aid) scheme at the NDMC's Navyug Primary School on Tilak Marg in central Delhi.
BaLA is a unique concept for improving quality of education in primary and elementary schools. It aims at providing a self-learning atmosphere in school, with use of a combination of educative material and fun elements. The scheme was launched last year and six schools have been brought under it since. The civic agency plans to extend it to all its primary schools, with a target of covering 10 schools every year.
