NABARD sanctions money to Punjab, Haryana under RIDF
NABARD has sanctioned Rs.48.55 crore to Haryana and Rs. 89.17 crore to Punjab for rural infrastructure projects under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) XIII.
"The projects aims at widening, reconstruction and strengthening of 83 Bridges in 13 districts of Haryana and strengthening of 20 Rural Roads and 18 Bridge Projects in Punjab", said an official release said on Friday.
Both of these projects are expected to be completed by March 2010, it said.
The total cost of the projects in Haryana works out to be Rs. 60.69 crore and Rs. 115.93 crore in Punjab. Out of which, NABARD's RIDF assistance would be Rs.48.55 crore and Rs. 89.17 crore for Haryana and Punjab respectively.
The projects once completed would contribute to the economic development of the states by providing better connectivity to growth centres like market yards, hospitals, etc. The project would benefit 510 villages and expected to generate about 33.78 lakh non-recurring mandays of employment, it said.
Further, with the sanctioning of these projects, the total RIDF assistance sanctioned for various purposes under different tranches of RIDF till date, has reached the level of Rs.2831.07 crore to the State of Punjab and Rs.1807.07 crore to the Haryana State.
