It would also involve construction of rail over bridges at level crossing near Chunabhatti railway station on V N Purav Marg.

"The executive committee of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, headed by Chief Secretary Swadhin Khsatriya, today cleared the construction of a 1.6 km elevated corridor between the BKC and the Eastern Express Highway," an official statement said.
The Rs 155.70 crore project will provide seamless connectivity between the two suburbs, it said.
"The connector is expected to cut travel time by 30 minutes and distance by three km. It will decrease traffic congestion in Sion and Dharavi areas. The project is expected to be completed in three years," the MMRDA statement said.
The link will include 260-metre-long bridge across Mithi River, rail over bridges (ROB) across Central Railway near Sion station and across Harbour Railway near Chunabhatti.
It would also involve construction of ROB at level crossing near Chunabhatti railway station on V N Purav Marg.
