Mitsui, Panasonic may set up projs at Reliance Haryana SEZ

CHANDIGARH: Japan-based general trading firm Mitsui and consumer durable maker Panasonic are likely to come up with their projects at the Model Economic Township (MET), proposed to be developed by Reliance Haryana SEZ at Jhajjar.

"They (Reliance Haryana SEZ) have informed us that Panasonic and Mitsui will undertake their projects at MET which will come up at Jhajjar," a senior official of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) said here.

Reliance Haryana SEZ, a joint venture between Reliance Ventures Ltd (subsidiary of Reliance Industries) and HSIIDC.

As per the proposal, Panasonic will develop its white goods manufacturing unit over 70 acres of land while Mitsui will have its logistic park to be spread over 375 acres of land, he further said. However, the official said, he is ignorant about the investments details of these projects.

Haryana government is also very keen on the commencement of the much publicised Reliance Industries's project as it has already given its in principle approval to the MET proposed to be developed at Jhajjar.

"We will ask the promoters what kind of infrastructure like road connectivity they will require for their MET and we will then provide them. Once these two companies set up their projects at MET, other companies will also be interested in investing here," he said.
