Metro stations to be connected with skywalks and elevators
Delhi govt is working to implement the 'integration of multimodal transport' aimed at decongesting vehicular traffic around metro stations.

Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today reviewed the presentation made by Unified Traffic and Transportation infrastructure (planning engineering) Centre ( UTTIPEC) which has already worked out detailed plans for 9 metro stations out of the 44 others which have been identified as having high footfall and require intervention to regulate human and vehicular traffic.
The UTTIPEC is simultaneously working on metro stations in the 1st and 2nd phase where Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) work is over but requires planning to decongest traffic, and the 3rd and 4th phase of DMRC projects so that their plan to decongest can be integrated right from the inception of these projects. Jung issued instructions to the DMRC to take up the work related to five Metro stations, those in Lakshmi Nagar, Nirman Vihar, Preet Vihar, Karkardooma and Chattarpur.
Work related to metro stations in INA, AIIMS, Green Park and Hauz Khas has been assigned to the Public Works Department. Jung also issued instructions to the UTTIPEC to complete their plan on the remaining 35 metro stations at the earliest. He will review the progress of their work at regular intervals. He will also take a meeting with all concerned in June to review the design plans of UTTIPEC for the 3rd phase of DMRC construction.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Vice Chairman (DDA), Secretary (UD), Secretary (PWD), Commissioner (Traffic), Commissioner (Transport), Director (UTTIPEC), MD (DMRC) and other stakeholders as also senior officers of the Delhi government.
