MCD to construct rural, urban roads

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will undertake construction of rural and urban roads at a cost of Rs 100 crore this year.


NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will undertake construction of rural and urban roads at a cost of Rs 100 crore this year.

Of the total costs, Rs 75 crore will be spent on urban roads and the rest on rural roads, MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta said today.

Inaugurating the work of road construction in Rohini area of west Delhi at a cost of Rs 12.5 million, Gupta said for the first time, the construction of roads would be undertaken under non-plan expenditure.

Turning to the health sector, Gupta said work has started for construction of hospitals at Timarpur, Kalkaji, Tilak Nagar and Lajpat Nagar. A homoeopathy hospital is being constructed at Jahangirpuri, he said.
