NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court-ordered drive against illegal commercial units in the capital continued today with the MCD sealing 162 properties in the city.

Since resuming the sealing drive in Delhi on April 28, officials of the corporation have taken action against 1,496 properties.

A maximum number of 43 units were sealed in South zone today -- in Panchsheel Enclave, Malviya Nagar and Dakshin Puri Extension areas.

Twenty-eight units were sealed in Lajpat Nagar, C R Park, G K Enclave and Amar Colony while action was also taken against properties in Keshav Puram, Ashok Vihar, Rohini, Trilok Puri, Anand Vihar and Darya Ganj among other areas.

The Supreme Court had on March 10 asked the civic body to seal within three months all shops not covered by the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 or the January 30 notification of the Central government.

The MCD had issued a notice asking owners to stop commercial activities within 45 days. The deadline had expired on April 27.
