Maytas first SEZ venture takes off

Infrastructure development company Maytas Properties has launched its first IT/ITeS special economic zone at its flagship integrated township, Mytas Hill County.

HYDERABAD : Infrastructure development company Maytas Properties has launched its first IT/ITeS special economic zone at its flagship integrated township, Mytas Hill County.
The company will be investing Rs 2,500 crore in the development of the SEZ project over the next few years, Maytas Properties CEO K Thiagarajan told mediapersons here today.
The SEZ, spread over 74 acres will have a total built-up area of eight mn sq ft and the first phase of the project will be ready for occupation by April 2009.
It has been designed by New York-based architects Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM). SOM has designed structures such as Sears Towers, Chicago; Buri, Dubai; and Freedom Towers, NY, Thiagarajan said.
Maytas Properties has notified SEZ sites in Hyderabad and Gopannapally and Mysamguda, where it plans to build nine million sq ft of LEED Gold Rating SEZ space, he said.
"The world-class SEZ at Maytas Hill County will add impetus to the growth of the state and the company. Through this project, we envisage providing superior quality lifestyle for residents of Maytas Hill County - all within a quick jaunt to their workplaces," he said.
