LUCKNOW: The Malaysian construction industry has evinced interest in the construction of 300 km long Agra-Lucknow expressway, linking the Taj city with the state capital.

Representatives of the Malaysia's Construction Industry Development Board ( CIDB) yesterday met Uttar Pradesh government officials and expressed their interest in the project which would cost around Rs 11,000 crore,a senior government official told PTI.

The length of the expressway is estimated between 275-300 kms.

The CIDB has been asked to enter into the tender process which is already underway, the official said, adding that bids would be opened on July 15.

According to government sources, besides the Malaysian body, about 15 other companies have also evinced interest in what is considered as pet project of UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

The proposed construction of the highway would considerably reduce travel time between two major cities of the state.
