Maharashtra gets two more projects under JNNURM

Aiming at providing sewerage facilities to urban poor, Urban Development Ministry has approved Storm Water Drainage Project and underground sewerage system for Kalyan Dombvili of Greater Mumbai.

NEW DELHI: Aiming at providing sewerage facilities to urban poor, Urban Development Ministry has approved Storm Water Drainage Project and underground sewerage system for Kalyan Dombvili of Greater Mumbai.

The Ministry has also sanctioned Rs 203.44 lakhs as third installment of Thane Railway Traffic Improvement.

The central sanctioning and monitoring committee sanctioned the drainage project in order to provide systmatic storm water drainage system for disposal of rain water and prevent flooding in developed areas of Kalyan Domvili Muncipal Corporation (KDMC).

Both drainage and underground sewerage projects under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission will be implemented by KDMC.

While the total central assistance under JNNURM for Kalyan Dombibili drainage is Rs 1939.09 lakhs, the Centre will release first installment of Rs 484.77 lakhs for the project.

The underground sewerage project for part of KDMC area will take about 34 months for completion.
