Maha Govt. all set to adopt e-governance

The Maharashtra government is looking to speed up approval process for all real estate development projects and make it transparent by taking e-governance route.

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government is looking to speed up approval process for all real estate development projects and make it transparent by taking e-governance route.

The state government is contemplating usage of satellite technology and global positioning system for faster and transparent approvals, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said.

“We want to make it (project approvals) less discretionary and as standardised as possible,” he said at Realty Next 2011, a conclave organized by Times Property. He assured realty developers speedy approvals for their proposed projects.

The Maharashtra Housing & Area Development Authority (MHADA) will undertake all government supported housing projects, while Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will focus on infrastructure building activities, the chief minister reiterated.

The projects to be handled by MHADA will also include all future rental housing developments, which were so far being undertaken by MMRDA. The government will soon take a policy decision on the issue, Chavan said. A scheme of rental housing projects for government employees is also under consideration.
