Madhya Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 29.53 crore for completing the works under Union government's perspective plan for modernising jails.
BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 29.53 crore for completing the works under Union government's perspective plan for modernising jails.
Out of these funds Rs 65.11 lakh has been allocated for construction of new jails, Rs 14.15 crore for improvement of jails and construction of new barracks, Rs 1.88 crore for drinking water and sanitation arrangements, an official release on Saturday said.
The government has also sanctioned Rs 2.21 crore for construction works and ensure their completion in the current financial year.
Accordingly, state government has instructed circle jail superintendents that in connection with the sanctioned works they must be in constant touch with public works department officer for ensuring completion of these works this year itself.
The jail superintendents have been asked to start the construction works on a war footing, it said adding they would be held personally responsible for failure to complete the works.
Under the plan Rs 14.15 crore has been sanctioned for improvement work of 28 jails and constructing new barracks there.
The government has asked the concerned district collectors to review the above mentioned works at their own level and ensure that they are completed in this year itself, it said.
