HYDERABAD: A Consortium led by Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has bagged a Rs 810 crore drinking water supply project from the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The other partners include Hyderabad-based Maytas Infra and Kirloskar Brothers (KBL).

L&T and KBL hold 72% (Rs 582 crore) and 7% (Rs 58 crore), respectively, in the project. The project is expected to be completed in two years. Maytas Infra holds a 20% stake (Rs 170 crore) in the project, which will be jointly executed by the consortium.

The project will be carried out in Kondapak and Ghanpur along the Karimnagar road near Hyderabad. Water from the Godavari will be treated at the clear water reservoir (CWR) at Kondapak and at master balancing reservoirs (MBRs) in Ghanpur. This requires a 58 km pipeline. We look forward to partnering with the water board to enhance the supply of drinking water in the region. We will execute these projects with the highest efficiency and safety standards, said PK Madhav, CEO, Maytas Infra.

The Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme is the second water supply contract bagged by Maytas Infra in 2008. The Maytas-led consortium has also bagged the much-debated Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
