Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway to be completed by 2016

NEW DELHI: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today outlined the various initiatives for better transportation network in the state, including more intra-city bus services, fully automated vehicle inspection centres among others.

Speaking at the 35th meeting of National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) here today, Khattar said that the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway will be completed before March 2016.

He informed that Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC) is the nodal agency to implement the project.

The tenders on the 135 km long expressway were invited in two packages that is 0.00 km to 83.320 km on BOT ( annuity) basis and 83.320 km to 135.650 km on Item Rate Mode.

He further added that the state government, through HSIIDC, has recently submitted a proposal to NCRPB for seeking financial assistance to the tune of Rs 457.81 crore.

The Chief Minister said that inclusion of Gurgaon for funding of city bus transport under the new scheme is being framed by the Urban Development Department to ease out the congestion on the roads.

Out of about 6.3 lakh vehicles in the State, about five lakhs are registered within the towns of Haryana Sub-Region, he said.

Khattar informed that the state government has set up a fully automated inspection and testing centre at Rohtak for checking the road worthiness of transport vehicles.

Three such additional centers would be established at Gurgaon, Faridabad and Karnal.

The centers will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore and would go a long way in reduction of pollution in the NCR besides ensuring the safety of the road users.

He suggested that this amount be given as grant by the NCR Planning Board.
