Jharkhand: Over 1,000-km of state highway to be converted to national highway

NEW DELHI: Over 1,000-km of state highway in Jharkhand is set to be converted into national highway with an aim to boosting industries, mining and tourism.

The Union Ministry of Road and Surface Transport and the state government also agreed to start work at the earliest on the construction of a bridge over the Ganga river.

According to a statement by Jharkhand government, it was decided at a meeting between state chief minister Raghubir Das and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari that the National Highways Authority of India will undertake work on National Highway 23 Ranchi-Gumla (208-km), Ranchi-Garhwa (260-km), Deogarh-Chopa-Hansdiha-Pirpainti (122-km), NH-80 Mirajchowki- Rajmahal-Farakka (93-km), NH-114A Dumri-Giridh- Sarath-Dumka- Bengal Border (275-km).
