Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das innaugrates 11 km long four-lane Western Corridor

KOLKATA: An 11 km long four-lane Western Corridor constructed by Tata Steel was inaugurated by chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das at Jamshedpur on Saturday.

It will provide smooth connectivity to the steel township with the existing network of state and national highways.

The CM also laid the foundation stone of the elevated road (HSM Flyover Project) in what indicates the company's intention to participate in more such projects in future. All heavy vehicles from the Tata Steel plant will be using this flyover.

Speaking on the occasion, Jharkhand CM said ;" Jamshedpur City, with a legacy of more than 100 years, has become a brand in itself. The Western Corridor is a giant leap towards industrial and infrastructural development of the state."

T V Narendran, MD of Tata Steel (India & SEAsia) said:"Tata Steel is committed to developing Jamshedpur as one of the best industrial towns in India. As part of the endeavor to develop the city infrastructure, the Western Corridor has been constructed in the steel city to help improve connectivity and address the traffic-related hassles. The company will continue to give shape to such projects in future."

With Jamshedpur growing into an urban agglomerate by virtue of its strong socio-economic base, the township has seen rapid growth in its population compounded with rapid development of trade & industries.

This has necessitated new infrastructure in terms of road an connectivity. The Western Corridor, constructed by Tata Steel will help in answering this urgent need of the city. Similarly the HSM Flyover Project between Tata Steel Works to truck parking area of Burma mines will help ease congestion of traffic on the town's Kalimati road.
