The project will decongest traffic on NH-1 at Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal and Yamuna Nagar as it pass through these places.

"Out of the 200 kms, 160 kms falls in the NCR area and rest falls in Yamuna Nagar district," he said.

The construction of highway will cost about Rs 1000 crore. While the state government will spend Rs 150 crore, the remaining amount will be borne by National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB).

"It would have four Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) and 10 flyovers," the spokesman said adding that it will have 10 meter service road.
