NEW DELHI: The government of Haryana has agreed to a proposal of the Noida Authority to building two new bridges on the Yamuna river that will connect Noida and Faridabad and ease traffic as well as travel time.

The breakthrough in the issue that has been pending for over a year was achieved at a meeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) on Wednesday.

Noida Authority has been keen to build the bridges to decongest the heavy traffic between the two states that currently moves over the Kalindi Kunj bridge The two new bridges will come up about seven kilometres away frm the Kalindi Kunj bridge near sectors 168 and 149A of Noida.

Member-secretary of NCRPB BK Tripathi, who chaired the meeting said the UP government will now prepare detailed project proposals and cost sharing will be decided after discussions between the two. If there is a need the NCRPB will assist through loan financing.
