Gujarat to spend Rs 2,000 crore on GIDC estates
Gujarat government has decided to take up a infrastructure project worth of Rs 2,000 crore to improve facilities in 180 Gujarat Industrial Development Corp (GIDC) estates.
Minister of State for Industry Saurabh Patel said a project of Rs 2000 crore will be taken up to improve road, water, power and drainage facilities in these estates.
It is for the first time the government is undertaking this project, he told PTI on the sidelines of Gujarat Global Investors Summit today.
About 320 lakh small scale units generating 7,00,000 jobs are located in these estates, Patel said.
The purpose behind the project is to create environment for attracting more industrial units in the state, he said.,
These estates would be divided into three categories A, B and C under which scale of facilities would be different.
Patel said a government regulation on single window clearance for the industrial units in the state gazette has been published and after six months government will make single window clearance Act obligatory for clearing the proposals of industrial units within a stipulated period.
For a productive use of land, the government has asked those holding plots of lands for the investment purpose to use them within two months otherwise it would acquire them for the industrial purpose, Patel said.
