BANGALORE: The Karnataka government will not auction the 409 acres of excess land acquired for Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) at Devanahalli on the outskirts of the city but give it out on lease, Minister for Tourism and Infrastructure Development, G Janardhan Reddy said on tuesday.

"The land, the price of which is Rs 3 crore per acre, was being utilised to put up facilities/projects and other commercial ventures relating to the BIA," he said.

Of this excess land, the Government has alloted 83 acres and 25 cents to the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Mysore Sales International Limited, tourism department, central meteorological department, customs department and New Mangalore Port Trust, among others, Reddy said.
