Govt approves seven PPP projects of worth Rs 5,200 cr

The govt has cleared seven PPP projects involving investment of Rs.5,200 crore.

NEW DELHI: The govt has cleared seven PPP projects involving investment of Rs.5,200 crore. Two cargo berth at Kandla port, an iron ore handling facility at Mangalore port are among the projects which were approved on Tuesday by the PPP approval commitee (PPPAC) headed by Ashok Chawla, secretary in the department of economic affairs.

The other proejcts include four-laning of a number of highways including Amravati-Talegaon, Pune-Sholapur, Dindigul-Theni, Tindivanam-Krishnagiri, and Muzaffarpur-Donbarsa sectors.

The decision is significant since it comes just a day after election dates have been announced. Officials say that the govt is of the view that the decisions do not violate the election code of conduct.
