Govt approves Rs 172.5 cr road repair work in AP

The government today approved a sum of Rs 172.50 crore for road improvement works under Central Road Fund Scheme.

NEW DELHI: The government today approved a sum of Rs 172.50 crore for road improvement works under Central Road Fund Scheme.

The Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, T R Baalu approved the amount to be spent on 75 different stretches of major district roads and state highways in various districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh, according to an official statement.

The projects include improvement of Penukonda-Madakasira Road at a cost of Rs 60 crore in Anantapur district and up gradation of Rayachoty-Vempalli Road at a cost of Rs 50 crore in Kadapa district.

An amount of Rs 50 crore would be spent for improvement of Kalva-Bethamchela-Banganpalli Road in Kurnoor and an equivalent amount for widening and improving Bugga Illathur Road in Chittoor.

The projects also include improvement of Suryapet-Nimmikal-Danthalapally Road at a cost of Rs 40 crore in Nalgonda district and repair of Chelgal-Itlkyal Road at a cost of Rs 35 crore in Karimnagar.

Other districts where the road improvement works have been sanctioned include Adilabad, East Godavari, Guntur, Khammam, Krishna, Mahabub Nagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nellore, Nizamabad, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Warrangal and West Godavari.
