Government nod to 4-laning of Jabalpur-Katni--Rewa project for Rs 1,981 crore

Government approved the four-laning of the Jabalpur-Katni--Rewa Section of NH-7 in Madhya Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 1,981 crore.

NEW DELHI: The government on Thursday approved the four-laning of the Jabalpur-Katni--Rewa Section of NH-7 in Madhya Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 1,981 crore.

"The total project cost estimated will be Rs 1,980.98 crore, including Rs 85.53 crore as an approximate cost of land acquisition, rehabilitation and pre-construction activities," the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure said in an official statement.

The main impact of the project lies in reducing the time and cost of travel of the traffic plying between Jabalpur- Katni-Rewa, it added.

The project would cater to the major traffic leading to Allahabad, Varanasi, Rewa, Jabalpur, Lakhnadone and Nagpur.

"This stretch is an important link, which joins Golden Quadrilateral...It will help in increasing the employment potential of the area, provide jobs to local labourers...and enhance development of tourism activities...," the statement said.

Jabalpur-Katni--Rewa project covers four districts of Madhya Pradesh and would benefit those commuting between Nagpur and Kolkata.
