With financial assistance from the World Bank for a Rs 750 crore road project, the Punjab Government today launched a project for immediate upgradation of roads in the state.

CHANDIGARH: With financial assistance from the World Bank for a Rs 750 crore road project, the Punjab Government today launched a project for immediate upgradation of roads in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said here today that the state government has inked the Output and Performance-Based Road Contract (ORPC) project with the World Bank, making contractors accountable for immediate maintenance of roads.

Under the OPRC model the potholes would be repaired within 24 hours and cracks filled within three days. Contractors are liable to lose part of their monthly payment if the deadline is not met.
