Government approves Rs 732 crore project for widening of NH in Odisha

The government today approved a Rs 732 crore project for widening of a section of National Highway 200 in Odisha under National Highways Development Project (NHDP).

NEW DELHI: The government today approved a Rs 732 crore project for widening of a section of National Highway 200 in Odisha under National Highways Development Project ( NHDP).

"The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the implementation of the development of four laning of Bhuban-Dubari-Chandikhole section of National Highway-200 in Odisha under the NHDP Phase III on Design, Build, Finance Operate and Transfer basis in Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) mode of delivery," an official statement said.

The total cost of the project for widening 62 km stretch is Rs 732.22 crore including Rs 80.22 crore for land acquisition, rehabilitation and pre construction activities, it added.

The main object of the project is to expedite the improvement of infrastructure in Odisha and also reducing the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy traffic, plying Bhuban-Dubari-Chandikhole route, the statement said.

The NH-200 is a major link for ore mines between Dubari to Paradeep Port. The statement said the project in Dhenkanal and Jajpur in Odisha will also increase the employment potential for local labourers for project activities.
