Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat on Tuesday said that the government was open for a dialogue with the promoters of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the coastal state.

PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat on Tuesday said that the government was open for a dialogue with the promoters of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the coastal state.

Reacting to the Board of Approval's recommendation to address issue of SEZ promoters, from compensation point of view, the Chief Minister said that the state government is open for the dialogue.

"Let me react only after getting formal communication from Delhi. There is no harm in dialogue," Kamat told.

He said that the state government will always keep in mind public sentiments before taking the final call on the issue.

Goa government, on the eve of New Year, had announced scrapping of 12 SEZs while recommending for the denotification of three.

The Board of Approvals in New Delhi on Monday had recommended that the issue of compensation to SEZ promoters in the event of their withdrawal should be addressed. The Union government had said that they will separately initiate discussions with Goa government on the fate of three already notified SEZs.
