Realty firm Gera Developments is planning to set up its first IT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Pune which will be spread over 21 lakh square feet.

PANAJI: Realty firm Gera Developments is planning to set up its first IT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Pune which will be spread over 21 lakh square feet.

"The SEZ at Pune's Karadi locality is approved by the Government of India and we are waiting for the notification from the Maharashtra government," Gera Developments Chairman and Managing Director Kumar Gera told reporters yesterday.

He said that the Pune project is spread over 21 lakh square feet and the entire land was purchased privately without any land allotment from the state government.

"In that area, ours is comparatively a smaller SEZ which will deal with IT-enabled services," Gera said.

The firm yesterday unveiled its Rs 60-crore housing project situated at Miramar beach here and is planning more residential projects in the western and Southern parts of the country.

"We are also planning our projects in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Nagpur where we will be creating residential spaces," Gera Developments Executive Director Rohit Gera said.
