Fifty more farmers' markets to come up in TN

Seven such markets already exist in the district at Toll Gate, Kakithapattari, Katpadi, Gudiyattom, Vaniyambadi, Arcot and Ranipet.

VELLORE: Fifty more farmers' markets would be set up by the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, Agriculture department sources said on Saturday.

Of the proposed ones, five markets would be in Vellore district which would come up soon, sources said.

Report has been prepared by district officials and sent to the state government for approval, they added.

Seven such markets already exist in the district at Toll Gate, Kakithapattari, Katpadi, Gudiyattom, Vaniyambadi, Arcot and Ranipet.

Farmers' Markets, introduced by the previous DMK government to help direct marketing by farmers, have been set up at many places in the state.
