NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court-ordered drive against illegal commercial units in the capital continued on Thursday with the MCD sealing 112 properties.

Since resuming the sealing drive in Delhi on April 28, officials of the corporation have taken action against 1,748 properties.

Maximum number of 26 units each were sealed in Rohini and Central zone on Thursday in Prashant Vihar, Rohini, Lajpat Nagar, C R Park, G K Enclave and Amar Colony. Action was also taken against properties in Rajouri Garden, Vikas Puri, Ramesh Nagar Shanti Niketan and Ambedkar Nagar, among other areas.

Meanwhile, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra on Thursday urged Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy to amend the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 at the earliest.

The Mayor, in a statement here, said since registration and payment of conversion charges of the shops or premises under mixed use regulations for the year 2006-07 was to be carried out by June 30, most of the traders who could not acquaint themselves with the various provisions of the Master Plan and subsequent notifications, were unable to register themselves and pay the conversion charges.

As such, one time relaxation or extension of time needs to be given to them in order to let them register and then pay the required conversion or parking charges, she said.
