Delhi govt to build over 1100 more flats for its employees
The colony will have public transport system also. Azadpur Metro Station will be just 1.3 km away from the proposed site.
Officials said a total of 1,152 flats will be constructed under the first phase at a cost of Rs 400 crore.
The colony will have rainwater harvesting system, a plant for recycling of water, a mini market, schools, parks, playgrounds and a two-level underground parking facility which will have space for 1,932 cars.
The decision to construct the flats was taken at a meeting presided by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and attended by PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chouhan and top brass of the Delhi government.
"We have decided to construct the flats so as to provide accommodation to those employees who have been staying in rented accommodation," said a senior official who attended the meeting.
Dikshit asked the PWD to select "modern design" for the proposed colony and construct the flats as per green building concept.
The construction under phase-I of teh project will be completed within three years. The PWD will construct 1,102 flats in the second phase and provide parking space for 1,942 vehicles.

Officials said employees who are entitled to have government accommodation will only be provide the quarters.
