Deal on setting up Knowledge city under finalisation

BANGALORE: Karnataka government is in the process of finalising with real estate developer DLF, a deal to set up India's largest technology park in the state, its IT Secretary MN Vidyashankar said on Thursday.

The state cabinet had on October 1 decided to award the project to develop 'Bidadi Knowledge City' to DLF, which would be making an estimated investment of Rs 50,000-60,000 crore, including Rs 3,600 crore for the land.

The investment would come from internal resources of two partners and private equity at project-level.

Speaking about the government initiatives for technology knowledge sectors in infrastructure and R and D during a conference on Embedded System, Vidyashankar said the park would come up on over 10,000 acres and would feature direct connectivity with the new international airport and house around 14 SEZs.

He also said the government was setting up India's first nanotechnology centre, being mentored by renowned scientist C N R Rao. An investment of Rs 500 crore is being envisaged in setting up of the centre.
