Control rooms to be set up to monitor road projects in J&K
Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to establish control rooms at the offices of Chief Engineers of major road projects in the state.

Control rooms would be set up in the offices of Chief Engineers of PMGSY, R&B, Mechnical Engineering Department (MED), Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation ( JKPCC) and Project Mughal Road in Jammu and Srinagar, R&B and MED Minister Abdul Majeed Wani told reporters here today.
The telephone numbers of the control rooms would be made public so that people can lodge their grievances for seeking redressal, he said.
In order to get further funding for the ongoing projects, the concerned officials have been asked to avoid delay in completion of works, and resolve complaints, Wani said.
The officials have also been asked by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to obtain NOCs from all departments, particularly forest department, the minister said, adding that some projects had suffered due to non availability of NOCs.
Wani pointed out that the department had successfully removed snow from the roads within 24 hours in Kashmir Valley because of the coordination done using the control rooms.
He also claimed that under UPA's flagship Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), considerable achievement had been made in districts having less roads.
