CM N Chandrababu Naidu sets three-year time frame to make Andhra Pradesh's roads world class
In a meeting on the status of roads in the state, the AP CM asked the department to make all single-lane and intermediate roads double-lane roads within an year.

In a review meeting on the status of roads in the state, the AP CM asked the department to make all single-lane and intermediate roads double-lane roads within an year, according to an official release.
"Besides that, no national highway should be single lane in the state," he said, according to the release.
Stating that self-sustainable models are the way forward, Naidu directed officials to take up four-laning of Kurnool to Amaravati as the top priority of the government and set a target of three years for its completion, the release stated.
"Pendurthy-Anakapalle road should be completed within two years and Rajahmundry-Gundavaram road should be complete within 18 months," he said.
Explaining that roads going around towns lead to unnecessary confusion and road accidents, the AP CM urged opting for straight roads and shortest routes possible, it said.
Given that the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor will emerge as an industrial hub, Naidu sought six-laning it, besides the Nellore-Vijayawada road.
The AP CM said that connectivity through Rayalaseema would be accorded priority since it would be a core industrial zone.
Elaborating the fact that mapping of roads and installing closed circuit television cameras on roads would enable the department to monitor traffic and people, the AP CM said that it also gives them a clear picture of damaged roads or those filled with potholes.
Directing the department to make Andhra Pradesh roads free of potholes, the AP CM asked officials to repair all battered roads in the state as well as repair roads leading to Rajahmundry on a war-footing, the release said.
