Cleared a proposal on setting up two brand new IT parks

There was a lot of talk about new IT parks coming up in sector V. Any further developments on that front?

Yes, there have been some rapid developments on that front. We have just cleared a proposal on setting up two brand new IT parks in sector V. We have decided to construct two new towers and create a build-up space of about three lakh square feet exclusively for IT companies. Out of the two one of the IT towers will be exclusively meant for hi-tech IT companies. The other building will be for all other IT and ITeS companies including BPOs.

What kind of IT companies will be offered space in the hi-tech building?

We are mainly looking at companies specialising in VLSI design. The name of the building will be India Design Centre. We are creating an infrastructure like say, high-speed communication network and WAN network to help these specialised IT companies. We are expecting to complete the entire project by the first quarter of 2008.

n How many IT companies are expected to set up shop in these new IT parks?

We can’t predict numbers right now but we are looking at an investment in excess to Rs 200 crore. The buildings will be at least 15 floors high. It will be state-of-the-art and expected to meet the demands of all the companies who are looking for office spaces in Sector V.

n What about IT training?

Skilled manpower is also one of the key requirements in the IT sector now.We have also decided to earmark certain portions of the IT park that we will be creating for the IT training institutes. We also plan to invite companies with special needs and provide infrastructure for them.

n Reportedly a lot of applications from IT companies were turned down due to lack of plots. Is this true that a lot of plots are still vacant in Sector V?

We have some vacant plots in sector V. We plant to re-allot them instead of keeping them vacant for long. We have already had some rounds of meeting with the KMDA regarding the issue.
