CII to soon develop industry cluster in Amritsar, Mohali

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today said that it would soon develop new industry clusters in Amritsar and Mohali districts as part of its cluster development initiative.

CHANDIGARH: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today said that it would soon develop new industry clusters in Amritsar and Mohali districts as part of its cluster development initiative.

"We will soon take up two more districts for developing industrial clusters here," CII, Northern Region, Chairman, Salil Singhal told reporters here on Thursday.

He said in Amritsar, the cluster for engineering and textile sectors would be developed while in Mohali, a cluster for Information Technology sector would be set up in a bid to provide impetus to these industries.

CII had already operationalised six industry specific clusters for competitiveness including two in Faridabad, one in Gurgaon, Mandi Gobindgarh, Ludhiana and Jalandhar each.

"With the operationalisation of these clusters, the small scale industries have been able to cut down their inventory cost and wastage considerably," he said.
