ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today appealed to the Union Minister of Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Venkiah Naidu to consider inclusion of Itanagar as a smart city.

In a meeting with the union minister in New Delhi, Tuki made a strong case for considering Itanagar under the Smart City project in addition to Pasighat which has already been included in the first list of 100 cities declared by the Centre.

He also discussed other projects under the Ministry of Urban Development in the state, an official said here.

The Union minister informed that a sum of Rs 73 crore was being sanctioned for the projects in the state under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Remewal Mission ( JNNURM).

Naidu further assured funds for all ongoing schemes which had more than 50 per cent progress.

He apprised the union minister of the new prioritised schemes submitted under the 10 per cent 'Lumsum Scheme' for North Eastern Region and sought his intervention for early sanction of the same.
