Centre approves Rs 101 cr projects for sanitation in HP

Centre has sanctioned Rs 101 crore worth projects for rural sanitation in Himachal Pradesh, state Rural Development Minister Sat Mahajan said.

SHIMLA: Centre has sanctioned Rs 101 crore worth projects for rural sanitation in Himachal Pradesh, state Rural Development Minister Sat Mahajan said.

The Himachal Pradesh government would also contribute a matching share as per the Total Sanitation Campaign Guidelines, the minister said.

Reviewing the performance of Total Sanitation Campaign here, Mahajan said Kangra district received the highest allocation of Rs 16.28 crore followed by Mandi worth Rs 14.95 crore.

He emphasised the need for sustained campaign on education and regular holding of camps and propagating state-level award scheme for panchayats, wherein the cleanest panchayat would get an award of Rs 10 lakh.

Winners of divisional, district and block panchayats would be eligible for an award of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively.
