CCCL bags Rs 200 cr Goa airport project
Consolidated Construction Consortium (CCCL) has bagged Rs 200-crore Goa airport project from the Airports Authority of India.
Such government contracts get sealed during the pre-qualification stage itself, which was held six months ago. The other bidders included IVRCL, Nagarjuna and an Iraqi construction firm. CCCL’s pricing methodology was the basis for winning the contract, CCCL chairman and CEO R Sarabeswar told reporters here on Tuesday.
Work on the airport project began on June 4. It will be ready in 24 months. The terminal building will come up on 5 lakh sq ft while a multi-level car park will span an area of 1.6 lakh sq ft, he said.
CCCL, which has an aim to nurture its asset portfolio to Rs 5,000 crore in 10 years, has a total order backlog of Rs 3,560 crore. These projects will be exe-cuted over a period of 18 months. Commercial segment work constitutes 42% while infrastructure and industrial categories comprise 40% and 13% respec-tively. The balance is in the residential segment, Mr Sarabeswar said.
On the Chennai airport status, he said Rs 380 crore worth of work on the proj-ect is already over. By June 2011 the mechanical work will get completed and the hand-over of the airport project is slated for August 2011.
Through its entity CCCL Infra, the company has forayed into road develop-ment works. It has already taken part in two bids on a BOOT (build-own-operate-transfer) model and it is ready to participate in two more by the month-end. These are valued at Rs 300 crore, he added.
