"This assurance was given by the Chief Engineer BRO at a meeting chaired by Minister for Forests and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad here today," an official spokesman said.

The spokesman said the meeting was convened to review the status of the tunnel project and remove the impediments affecting its progress.

Various aspects of the project and the measures needed to be taken to ensure early commencement of work on this prestigious project, which will provide all-weather road connectivity between the valley and Ladakh region, were discussed during the meeting, the spokesman said.

The Minister asked the BRO authorities and forest department to work in close coordination in order to take forward the project work smoothly.
