NEW DELHI: The Centre is likely to take up fresh proposals tomorrow for Special Economic Zones at the meeting of the Board of Approval, which may also discuss how to deal with the issue of Goa scrapping all the SEZs.

While the meeting of BoA, chaired by Commerce Secretary G K Pillai, has been scheduled for tomorrow, no agenda has been revealed.

However, an official said the Board is likely to take up the pending cases, which could not be taken at the previous meeting in January.

The Commerce Ministry had sought Law Ministry's opinion on Goa government's decision to scrap all 15 SEZs, including those that had already been notified.

The government has so far given formal approval to 428 SEZs, out of which 194 have been notified. An investment of Rs 52,193 crore has been made in the notified SEZs and 94,832 people have been employed in the new generation zones.
