Ashwini Vaishnaw announces rail push along India-Pak border to strengthen defence readiness

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a massive strategic rail infrastructure push along the India-Pakistan border to strengthen military logistics and regional connectivity. The Ministry of Railways has fast-tracked Final Location Surveys (FLS) for critical routes, including the Jaisalmer–Barmer–Bhiladi and Anupgarh–Khajuwala–Jaisalmer corridors. These new lines will create a robust transport backbone in the sensitive desert sectors of Rajasthan, enabling the rapid deployment of troops, heavy equipment, and essential supplies. Beyond defense readiness, the project aims to integrate remote border districts into the national grid, significantly boosting the local economy and tourism in Jaisalmer and Barmer.
