Ambitious plan to expand T&D system in Gurgaon

In view of fast growing demand of electricity in Gurgaon district, DHBVN and HVPN have prepared a plan to expand and augment power transmission and distribution system.

CHANDIGARH: In view of fast growing demand of electricity in Gurgaon district, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam have prepared a plan to expand and augment power transmission and distribution system.

The plan is to cater to the load demand for the period up to 2021, a spokesman for the Haryana Power Utilities said here today.

He said rapid expansion of Gurgaon has led to tremendous growth in load on the transmission system which is 20-25 per cent for the district compared to 8-10 per cent in other areas of the state.

Under this huge long term power transmission plan, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) would construct 486 additional sub-stations, including 11 sub-stations of 400 KV level, 32 of 220 KV, seven of 66 KV and 436 of 33 KV level.

As many as 124 sub-stations of 2775 MVA capacity will be constructed by the year 2011-12 while 192 sub-stations of a transformation capacity of 4000 MVA and 170 sub-stations of 4000 MVA capacity will be set up during the period from 2012 to 2016 and 2016 to 2021 respectively.

At present, there are five 220 KV sub-stations of 960 MVA transformation capacity in Gurgaon, feeding 50 power transformers at 24 sub-stations of 66 KV level from where feeders for power distribution emanate.
