BENGALURU: The Karnataka Road Development Corporation has quietly commenced soil testing and geo-technical investigation for a north-southeast-west elevated corridor project, which has been christened Bengaluru Elevated Corridor Project. The 75-km corridor, to be built at a cost of Rs 18,400 crore, will connect Central Silk Board to Hebbal (North-South corridor), KR Puram to Gorguntepalya (East-West corridor-1) and Jnanabharathi to Varthur Kodi (East-West corridor-2) with 6-lane elevated roads. These corridors will also have three connecting corridors.

The project's promoters claim commuters can crisscross to any part of the city in just 45 minutes once the project is ready. Geo-technical investigation is currently underway on Jayamahal Road, which is part of the North-South corridor. It was earlier argued that this project will make the steel flyover project (from Basaveshwara Circle to Hebbal junction) redundant.
