NEW DELHI: Enthused by the government’s Smart Cities and Make In India initiatives, US-based engineering design firm AECOM is scaling up its India presence and will hire 1,500 more employees to its existing staff strength of 2,500, over the next five years.

“Visions are easy to formulate, often difficult to execute. We can feel the difference in the government’s approach and it is reaching out to the best in the world to help achieve its vision,” AECOM CEO Michael Burke said, between meetings with top government officials across infrastructure ministries.

“From a business perspective, if you impose too many regulations, it slows business down. But the Modi government is moving in the right direction and we hope that continues,” he said.
