The scope of work include construction of new terminal buildings, resurfacing and strengthening of runways, drainage and rain water harvesting system and allied works.
To another query, he said the government was not considering any proposal to frame guidelines for airlines to make these more accoutable to passengers in cases of long delays and sudden cancellations of flights.
"However, government is continously studying and monitoring the punctuality of airline operations," Patel said.
While there were several factors such as bad weather, technical snags and air traffic congestion which might be beyond the control of airlines, some of the delays could be attributable to the airlines.
Replying to another question, he said Air India Express, the budget carrier of Air India, planned to begin domestic operations from October this year.
"The fares charged by Air India Express will be competitive and services offered by it comparable to other low cost carriers," he added.
