Wholesale prices cool to 3.15 per cent in November

WPI inflation in manufactured products, which has a 64.97 per cent weight in the index, increased to 3.2 per cent from 2.67 per cent in the previous month.

Wholesale prices cool to 3.15 per cent in November
NEW DELHI: India's wholesale prices cooled in November, amid cash following the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes from November 8.

Data released by commerce and industry ministry on Wednesday showed WPI inflation in November was 3.15 per cent compared with 3.39 per cent in October. Similar to retail inflation, the drop in wholesale inflation is attributed to easing food prices.

Food articles inflation lowered to 1.54 per cent as against 4.34 per cent last month. Though potato prices rose 37 per cent, the increase was lower than last month. However, Inflation in cereal and wheat was higher than October.



Data released by statistics office on Tuesday showed that retail inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index in November was at a two year low of 3.63 per cent compared with 4.2 per cent in October.

WPI inflation in manufactured products, which has a 64.97 per cent weight in the index, increased to 3.2 per cent from 2.67 per cent in the previous month.

Primary articles inflation was 1.25 per cent and fuels inflation was 7.07 per cent.

The government also revised the rise in wholesale price inflation for September to 3.8 per cent from 3.5 per cent earlier.
