Wholesale prices cool in October

WPI inflation in manufactured products, which has a 64.97% weight in the index, increased to 2.6% from 2.48% in the previous month.

NEW DELHI: India's wholesale prices cooled sharply in October, data released by commerce and industry ministry showed on Tuesday.

WPI inflation in October was 3.39% compared with 3.57% in September. The statistics office will release retail inflation data later in the day.

October WPI food articles inflation was 4.34% against 5.75% in September.

However, potatoes became 60% pricier in the month. Onion prices showed the steepest decline and fell 66% in the month.

WPI inflation in manufactured products, which has a 64.97% weight in the index, increased to 2.6% from 2.48% in the previous month.

Primary articles inflation fell to 3.31% and fuels inflation rose to 6.18%.

The government also revised the rise in wholesale price inflation for August to 3.85% from 3.74% earlier.
